From Noise to Noteworthy:

Highlighting Your Value and Expertise

Your Media Kit has ✨too much✨ information in it.

Now, I’m sure it’s GORGEOUS and looks really pretty, however, it has too much of the information that is irrelevant and not enough information that IS relevant.

Remember,

Your media kit is not a tool that you use to get clients. Your media kit is a tool that you use to attract media opportunities

Hence the name

✨MEDIA✨ Kit

Not “Client Attraction” Kit

So the information in your media kit needs to position you as an authority in your industry and it also needs to make it very clear and evident that you actually have something of value to contribute to your industry.

No, this does not mean that your media kit should include a two page written summary of who you are, what you do, and your life story from childhood that lead you into the field that you’re in now.

While, all of that is awesome and amazing, it’s simply NOT what people need to know in order to make a decision about whether or not, they want to interview you for their podcast, invite you as a guest blogger, or even to invite you and PAY you to speak at their conferences and workshops.

If you have your media kit in PDF format, that is certainly better than having nothing. However, it will serve you, as well as anyone else considering you for a media opportunity, at a much higher level if you created a digital media kit instead.

And having a digital media kit does not have to be complicated. You simply need the ✨most important✨ elements highlighted.

You can do this on an Authority Hub (which would be much better in my honest opinion), or by simply having a media kit page on your website that is easily accessible and easy to locate.

Now, let me say this,

✨BEFORE✨ you work on your media kit you need to make sure that you have at least two things.

✅ You need to make sure that the service that you offer is a ✨Premium Level✨ service. Even though the purpose of your media kit is not to gain customers, but to gain media opportunities, the people that you will be exposed to via those media opportunities will be people who are looking for premium services.

✅ You need to make sure that you ✨actually have something of value✨ to contribute to the industry. If the only thing that you have to talk about is the same thing that everybody else is talking about then what makes hiring you for media opportunity more valuable than hiring just any other random person who is also in your field for that same media opportunity?

So before you begin focusing on a media kit, you need to make sure that you have those two things in place. Once you have those two things in place, then you definitely want to create a media kit for your self either in PDF format or in a Digital format.

Again. There are very specific items that should be considered that should be included in your media kit if you really want it to be effective in attracting the kinds of opportunities that you desire.

There are three ways that I can help you with this.
